- It’s 100% free to create Challenges!
- Whatever the entry fee is (in coins).
- Whoever created the Challenge. (ie. the Passphrase Member or sometimes Passphrase itself)
- Simple. You provide a hint (ie. clue) to give people (ie. Players/Participants)
some idea of whether or not they might be able to “solve” your Challenge
(ie. guess and/or know and enter the correct answer faster than everybody else).
Example Clue: How well do you know US Politics?
Note: You can also upload an image that can be used as a clue also (an additional
clue to your text-based clue or an image-only clue).
You then provide a Challenge (ie. Question) and an Answer (ie. secret PassPhrase)
that only you’ll know, which will be buried deep inside our system (oh yeah,
we’re about to encrypt all Passphrase-Answers with Enterprise-level 256-bit
encryption in the next week).
Example Challenge/Question: What is the full
name of the President of the United States?
Example Answer (ie. Secret Passphrase):
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr
It depends. We leave a lot of freedom to Challenge Creators. This is supposed to be a
fun, but fair platform. Unless it’s definitely provable, there’s
a lot of answers that could technically be subject to the Challenge Creator’s
discretion.
We do, however, have a few rules:
1. Case-sensitivity doesn’t matter, so you can type it however you want.
2. Punctuation (periods, commas, semi-colons, etc),
however, is forbidden
and stripped from all Answers/Passphrases. Note: If you enter an Answer with a
hyphen and the correct Passphrase does not have a hyphen, your hyphen gets stripped
when Passphrase’s algorithms compare the two (ie. so the hyphen won’t hurt
your chances).
3. If the Answer is a number of almost any kind, then
it should be written/typed
as a number, ie. 4 instead of four.
Unless you can definitively prove that an Answer is incorrect, then
most answers will stand. Passphrase gives Creators a lot of flexibility
with creating fun, clever and even unpredictable answers. It’s the
job of the Players (and Participants) to anticipate, guess or even infer
what the winning Answer might be.
For example, there might be 2 Challenges about which NBA Player is the GOAT
and one might have Michael Jordan as the correct answer and the other
might have Lebron James as the correct answer.
In this case, the one with Lebron James as the correct answer is 100%
absolutely wrong and incorrect....just kidding (sort of).
Both answers would be correct for each of their respective Challenges,
because it’s not definitively provable which is the GOAT, but it’s
the Players’ jobs to anticipate what the correct Passphrase-Answer
is based on a particular Creator (and hint/clue) .
Creators of a Challenge can earn a maximum of up to 50% once a
Challenge is over and has been solved.
Note: A Creator can choose to have less Players to make it much more
likely and quicker that a Challenge goes live, but this also reduces
the Challenge Prize Pot and reduces the Player's 50% earnings as well.
So, for example, you could set a $100 Prize for a Challenge and lower
the minimum amount of Players required (as suggested automatically in
our system based on what you enter for a Prize Amount AND an Entry Fee).
Whatever you lower it to could yield you just a 20% earnings payout for
example.
*******************
No money is required up front
for posting a Challenge, however, we may one day limit the
amount of Challenges people can post, eventually start
charging a small fee to post Challenges (to deter spammers)
and/or require a deposit if you want to offer Merchandise or a
Product as your Challenge Prize (to ensure that a Creator follows
through).
Then, you’d of course receive your deposit back after you and
the winner have demonstrated that the "physical" prize was in fact
delivered and received.
Challeges can have up to 3 Winners: 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd place.
1st Place - Wins the Challenge
Prize Amount (required)
2nd Place - Wins 50% of the
Challenge Prize Amount (optional)
3rd Place - Wins 20% of the
Challenge Prize Amount (optional)
Then, there are the 2nd Chance Winners that are automatically and
randomly selected by our system at the end of each Challenge. The
number of 2nd Chance Winners may vary depending on the size of the
Challenge Pot. Additional info about the 2nd Chance Prizes can be
found on the Details page of each individual Challenge at the bottom.
- We’re not really limiting it at the moment because there's a
natural way it limits itself based on whether the person who
created the Challenge actually wants it to ever go live or not.
But, the Creator of the Challenge can set the number of players,
entry fee, minimum threshold of players they want before it goes
live, etc.
- It's when a Challenge goes live and players receive/see the secret Challenge/Question and get 59 seconds to "solve" it (ie. enter the correct answer)
- Once it reaches the target/goal amount of Players, the Creator
will receive a notification and email and be able to set a
Go-Live time. Then the Players will receive a Notification about
that time.
If a Player(s) can make the Go-Live Time, then they don't have to
do anything, but if they can't then they can click the
“Joined” button to "Leave" or "Withdraw" from the
Challenge.
There will probably be a fee added soon for Withdrawals and the
VIP Players Membership will allow you to Withdraw an unlimited
amount of times.
- Basically a $1.99/month Membership that gives you a lot of
helpful Benefits to make your life easier while using Passphrase.
You can see a full list of VIP Benefits here. But, the very
first and biggest benefit is Instant/Immediate (ie. same-day)
Payouts via Venmo, Cash App, Paypal, Apple Cash and Zelle.
And, then of course Withdrawals, which are sort of like
Entry Fee Insurance because they let you not
only Withdraw if you can't make a Challenge's Go-Live time,
but will also give you 50% to 100% of your Entry Fee back.
Membership Levels are a way to rank, prioritize and reward Passphrase
Members based on their level of engagement. There are 10 Levels (1-10)
with 10 as the highest.
The higher the level, the more priority, privileges and earnings
opportunities you receive.
Users can either earn Levels or purchase them. The 3 largest factors
that determine level are:
1. How many Challenges you participate in, but using the entry fees
of those Challenges are the primary measurement.
So, the more coins you spend on Challenges, the higher your Level
will be.
2. A measurement we call “Impact” - or how many coins
your direct referrals have spent on entering/joining Challenges.
3. The amount of entries you automatically receive into each
End-of-Challenge 2nd Chance Prizes Giveaway.
At the end of each Challenge, various Players/Participants will be
automatically and randomly selected to win 2nd Chance Prizes.
The amounts and quantity of prizes depends on the size of the
overall Challenge, its total pot, etc.
Each Player automatically earns 20 entries into each Challenge
they enter/join. And with each additional Member Level you’ll
receive an additional 20 entries automatically.
So, Level 1 = 20, Level 2 = 40, Level 3 = 60, Level 4 = 80...Level 10 = 200
Sponsored Challenges are paid for by the Creator who pays a portion
of his/her coins, so that Players/Participants don’t have to.
And, a couple of reasons why someone might want to are:
1. You might simply want the visibility and promotional benefits
of the Challenge, so you make it completely free for people to enter.
2. You want to use the Challenge to lure in potential new users, who
would become your Direct Referrals (who you make commission from).
Note: A Sponsored Challenge can also be one where the Creator provides
the Prize, thereby allowing the Creator to set the Entry Fee to 0 (ie.
completely free if they want to). Please contact us and we can quickly
help you set up one of these types of Challenges -
contact@playpassphrase.com
Challenge Creators earn 10% of all the Challenge Prize amounts that
their Direct Referrals win. Amazing, right?! We know - you’re welcome.
But, that commission does not have to come out of the winner’s
winnings - it’s totally separate (ie. we don’t penalize the
Winner just to give you a commission).
Your Earnings Commissions can be found on your Edit Profile page under
the Referrals tab (on the left side, at the top if you’re on Desktop).
